A Dozen Favorite {Nearby} Indoor Play Spaces

Part 1 of an 8-Part Series on Indoor Activities throughout the Puget Sound

Winter days in the northwest often mean rain and cold temperatures that are not conducive to long periods of outdoor play.  So, what to do? Check out some great local and nearby options to keep the kids happy and you sane!  Macaroni Kid has you covered with ideas from all around the Puget Sound! Each week for the next two months, I will bring you a variety of ideas for indoor play.  This week - INDOOR PLAY SPACES:


The Nest
{Woodinville}Parents get the best of both worlds at The Nest Drop Off Play & Learning Center!  Drop kids, ages 2-6, off for up to 4 hours at this 4,000 sq ft indoor play center, while you attend to errands or maybe a relaxing lunch date or pedicure with a friend.  Open Monday through Friday 9am - 4pm ($9.95/hour for the first child) and Saturday for Parents Night Out ($35 flat rate).

Let's Play {Sammamish}  It's a converted and full-finished five car oversized garage with 3,000 square feet of room to play!  Inside you'll find everything from a play kitchen and building blocks to a huge train table and even two large inflatables! My four year old could've stayed all day!  Follow on Facebook for announcements of additional drop-in times.   Fee is donation-based (suggested $5-$7).


Happy Nest {Redmond} Enjoy playing with your child in this fun and cozy indoor play area for newborns up to 6 years old.  There are age appropriate play toys and activities for babies, toddlers, and children, which include, train tables, bouncy balls, slides, reading corner, art center, dramatic play, enclosed play area, and more.  Open play is Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9:30am-6:30pm, Tuesday and Friday 9:30am-4:30pm, and Sunday 9am-1pm.  Fees are $10 per child, $6 sibling, punchcards are available.


Alderwood Mall Kids' Play Area {Lynnwood} A great place to let the kids run around before or after you shop. The remodeled kids’ area includes fun and colorful play equipment for toddlers o school-aged children.


WiggleWorks Kids {Bellevue} A soft indoor play area right in the middle of Crossroads Mall.  Specifically for children 48 inches and shorter.  Most of the equipment spins, bounces, or swings for a complete interactive play experience.  Opened daily Monday-Sunday for drop-in play.  Fees are $10, $8 for siblings, 12 months and under free, value packs available.


Rainbow Swing Set {Kirkland} Visit the indoor superstore and play on a variety of swing set structures.  Drop in play is 7 days a week during store hours (Monday through Friday: 10-6, Saturday: 10 - 5 and Sunday: 11 - 5).  Children may play for up to 2 hours for $6 on weekdays and $9 on weekends.


The Village Bean {Bothell’s Country Village} Enjoy this cozy nook to park the stroller, relax with a latte, and recharge the kids with a healthy snack and play time in the well-stocked play area with activities for children of all ages.  The Village Bean is open M-F 9am - 6pm, Saturday 10am - 6pm and Sunday 11am - 6pm.


Play Kitsap: This indoor playground and learning center in Bremerton is dedicated to providing a safe, clean and fun atmosphere for children (10 and under) to play. During OPEN Play, kids can burn off some energy and use their imaginations. Play Kitsap has 4 large commercial inflatables, sports arena, and 3 imagination zones. They also have separate crawlers and toddlers areas for the little ones. Admission is FREE for adults and babies under 12 months, $4 for 12-24 months, $8 for over 24 months, and $6 for additional siblings.


Imagination Station: Imagination Station Enrichment Center in Port Orchard offers a clean, safe and spacious play floor for children ages 0-6 years old. The play area is more than 2,200 square feet to explore and includes an infant and small toddler area, a large climbing clubhouse with slide, a playhouse complete with a kitchen and several dress up items to spark imagination, and a reading corner complete with a reading boat. Free Wi-Fi and Coffee. Admission is for all-day play. Open play is $7 for the first child, $5 for a sibling.


PlayHappy Café {Lynnwood} (formerly known at Playdate Cafe) is an innovative family and community focused gathering place for little ones and their favorite grown-ups. It's an ideal place for a play date with your friends or to make new ones! Our 8,500 square foot space includes: a large, imaginative play space designed for little ones 0-6, separate area for infants & crawlers, and a café serving delicious food & beverages with free Wi-Fi.


Third Place Books {Lake Forest Park}

Babies and toddlers can play with toys in an enclosed area surrounded by an eating bar so parents can enjoy their meal while keeping an eye on the little ones. Make sure to take advantage of the Kaleidoscope Play & Learn events, and story time at Third Place Books.


Spartan Recreation Center Indoor Playground {Shoreline} Slides, teeter-totters, climbing toys, mini basketball hoops and multi-size balls are available to allow your child plenty of room to run and play in our large gymnasium. Indoor playground is a great activity for rainy and cold mornings or just a fun way to meet other families. Only $2 per child.
