Parent with a Purpose - Leanne Kabat

The local mom behind MamaCon is helping 50 mamas in 50 days!

April 4, 2017

In March of this year, new MamaCon CEO and Main Mama Leanne Kabat decided to walk her talk that 'No Mama Should Mama Alone' and went on Facebook to share a video about her offer to help 50 mamas in 50 days. Within a few hours, the video had been seen by over 500 people and after 4 days it has been viewed over 2100 times, reaching over 4000 people. The video is here:

Leanne's message is striking a chord with mamas who are feeling disconnected and alone.  In just the first week, she had dinner with a mama who was feeling alone, reworked a resume with a mama who wants to land her dream job,  sat with a mama who was mourning a loss in her life, helped a mama declutter a room in her house for an arriving guest, strategized with a mama about her son who has hit the defiant stage,  met a mama at a toy store to find the perfect toy for her preschooler, and brainstormed a new business idea with a mama, sparking a new passion pathway!

Also in that first week, she realized that some women were scared to ask for help, which inspired her to create a follow-up video tackling the label of ‘bad mom’: https://www.facebook.com/MamaConUS/videos/1436693916383466/

As she continues to work toward her goal, she will jog with one mama training for a 5K, start a sewing project, plant flowers, and help a mama learn how to cook a Thai dish for the first time. The requests for connection keep coming, some from mamas in California and Toronto, Canada thanks to the power of social media.

On the 50th day, Saturday, April 29, 2017, Leanne will host the 6th Annual MamaCon at the Hilton Bellevue where 150 mamas will enjoy an E.P.I.C. evening of Enrichment, Pampering, Inspiration and Connections. (www.mamacon.net)

Why does Leanne believe no mama should mama alone? She moved here in 2006 and before making friends, she suffered a neurological (brain) crash and her doctors gave her five years to live. She struggled to be the best mom she could be to her 3 young children, but raising a family while being sick was hard - doing it without girlfriends to share, cry, laugh, scream, connect and draw strength from was the hardest thing of all. She just celebrated 10 years still alive and has built and nurtured an incredible community in her life and at MamaCon but she is finding too many mamas feel isolated and alone. Through Mama2Mama she is connecting with 50 mamas over 50 days and inspiring other women to reach out to those around them because we are better, wiser, and stronger when we link arms and face the world together. Leanne is sharing her philosophy of togetherness at MamaCon with any mama who craves inspiration and new friend connections.

MamaCon is a mama-only event showcasing speakers who inspire and motivate mamas to transform their lives to be their best selves for their kids, families, and themselves. New this year are breakout sessions with leading local experts to facilitate roundtable discussions about parent development and education, self-care tips, family finance guidance, relationship support, positive discipline, and other hot topics for mamas. As always, there will be a MamaCon Marketplace, a Mini-Spa with complimentary spa services, dinner and sweets, and terrific giveaways. At its core, the ultimate gift at MamaCon is the gift of time to connect and reconnect with other amazing women so everyone goes home with a friend they can call when they feel alone.
