I had four VERY energetic kids with me; talking constantly and jumping all over the place. Then they saw the lights, all the bright, beautiful lights, and they were quiet. They heard the carolers and were enchanted. They still were jumping all over place, but in excitement, ready to see what was around the next path. I even got an “I love this” at one point!

Wildlights at Woodland Park Zoo is a fantastic family experience for the holiday season. More than 600,000 lights recreate wild animals and wild places in two and three dimensions. The kids absolutely loved the three dimension and moving light experiences while we were there. They just kept asking “How did they do that?” I simply enjoyed the beauty of the lights surrounding me down every path. For the youngest members, or the young at heart, the carrousel is open and snowball fights are happening in the Snowmazium. While most of the animals are tucked in for the night, they do have a select few indoor exhibits open for viewing. We even got to meet a few Reindeer during our holiday light adventure. After all the activity, feel free to rest your feet and warm up at the Wildlight fire pits. Fill yourselves up with great food selections including hot doughnuts, chowder, and pizza. They also have selection of beer, wine, mulled wine and spiced hot cider for those 21 and older; under 21 can enjoy some great hot chocolate. Santa is even coming to visit every Friday- Sunday before Christmas as well as December 18-23.
