Celebrate at Bricks and Minifigs Monroe!

By Melinda Larke - Cherry Valley Macaroni Kid Publisher and Editor January 4, 2018

Birthday parties are not my thing. I want to celebrate the day my kids were born, but not at my house. I don’t want to have to come up with decorations, activities, goody bags, etc. What I want is to make a Facebook event, show up somewhere that is not my home, have the place already decorated, and the activities already planned!
Bricks and Minifigs Monroe had everything I wanted to celebrate my son’s birthday and more! It was perfect. When we arrived they sent us back to the party room. My son was excited to see his name on the sign outside the party room welcoming him in; I was excited to see the nice spacious room with the fun decorations on the wall. They had everything all set up and ready to go. I did bring a few decorations just to make the food and present table a bit more festive. That took me a whole 5 minutes to set up the table with my décor, snacks, cupcakes, and juice boxes. My work was done! Our awesome host came in, introduced himself to me and told me exactly what he was going to be doing. He had the schedule down. 45 minutes of car building and racing, 30 minutes of snacks and presents, and then 15 minutes of minifigure building for a total of 90 minutes. He wrangled all 12 kids to the big table in the middle of room, got their attention, explained the rules for the day, and got them ready to build their cars. I took pictures, videos, got to enjoy watching the kids smile, laugh, create, and I think even sat down for a few minutes and relaxed! Amazing! I was a little worried that 45 minutes was a little long for building and racing cars but the kids just kept building, racing, building, racing, etc. The host was giving them tips along the way on ways to make the cars faster, telling the kids who the fastest was so far, and really interacting with them. He kept them engaged and wanting to keep creating different types of cars. He also was great about stopping the car racing right at 45 minutes; he handles the whole, “One more race” whining really well.

When snack and present time came around the plates, napkins, and everything we needed were already out on the table and ready for the hungry kiddos. The last part of the party was 15 minutes of minifigure making. Minifigures that they got to take home with them! All I could think about was that I didn’t have to put together goody bags! The kids really enjoyed being able to create their own minifigure; each one was unique. At the end of the party all I had to do was pick up the leftover food, the balloons I brought in (only because my son wanted them), and the gifts. Everything else was cleaned up for me. Score! My son, for being the birthday boy, got to pick a gift from Bricks and Minifigs; a second minifigure or a small container of bricks.

During our party I heard one child tell another that he was having so much fun. My son had a blast. I saw so many smiles, heard so much laughing, and experienced a lot of excitement. Bricks and Minifigs Monroe provided a party for my son that he will remember forever!
