In northern Idaho sits a theme park hailed as America's Theme Park; Silverwood Theme Park! As huge theme park fans I knew my family had to experience Silverwood while we were on our weekend trip to Idaho. It was a stormy weekend in Idaho, cold, rain and thunderstorms forecasted but that wasn't going to stop me from having a great day at the park. It did however sadly stop me from going to Boulder Beach, the water park within Silverwood, I am not that crazy y'all! Despite the weather we had a fantastic day.
The park began as a unique showcase for vintage trains, planes and cars. From there, Silverwood evolved into an exciting family destination with some of the newest thrill rides in the West. Today, Silverwood is the largest theme park in the Northwest as well as home to Boulder Beach Water Park. Always expanding, there is always something new at the park. Silverwood has some fantastic and intense rides; Aftershock the biggest roller coaster in the park at 191 feet tall, Timber Terror a roller coaster known as an air coaster, Tremors a top rated wooden roller coaster, the Panic Plunge and Corkscrew round out the bunch. They also have less intense rides such as Antique Cars, Bumper Boats, Elephant Ride, the Roaring Creek Log Flume and more. They have an area just for the littles, Garfield's Summer Camp. It has several rides that the youngest guests will love and you can even meet Garfield there! There is something for everyone at Silverwood. To learn more about the rides go here.
Silverwood isn't just rides, they also have world class entertainment like Nick Norton's Magic Show. The famous steam train, old #7 is a fun trip around the park and through the woods. Watch out you may run into Bigfoot or some train robbers along the way! The food was fantastic from the pulled pork sandwiches to the ice cream and funnel cake we didn't leave at all hungry. The prices are also very reasonable for a theme park and what you get.
We spent a wonderful day at Silverwood! I know my whole family would go back at the drop of a hat. I loved the fact that the park was small enough and easy enough to find your way through and not kill your feet in the process. My feet were as happy going out as they were going in! Even better, I didn't hear once from the kids that they were tired of walking. The staff were very friendly; stopping many times just to ask how my day was going and they always had smiles on their faces, even in the pouring down rain.
For the 2018 season, Silverwood is open weekends only May 5 through May 20. The park is open daily from May 26 through September 3. Weekend-only operation resumes from Sept. 8 through Sept. 23. Boulder Beach Water Park is open June 1
