10 Things to do With Your School Aged Kids

In the Monroe, Sultan, Clearview, Duvall, Carnation, Cottage Lake, and Redmond Ridge areas

Once kids start school, sports, and other after school activities it is a rare time to have free time for family fun.  So rare that parents can be at a loss of what to do with their kids in the area.  Here are some ideas to help you have a great time and create some great memories! 

1. Let's Play Café- A little gem in downtown Monroe, Let's Play Café has something for everyone in the family to enjoy.  Arcade games, board games, and card games.  Many memories and lots of bonding can be done in just a few hours at Let's Play Café. 

2. Jump, Rattle, and Roll - Bouncing isn't just for the very young.  Head to Jump, Rattle, and Roll in Monroe to give the whole family a place to play.  They have several open jump times on the weekends just for your jumping pleasure.  Parents are always free and kids ages 2-18 years old are $8.00.  

3. Evergreen Speedway- Every Saturday night from March until September you can head to the races for some great and affordable family fun!  Each night is different and exciting.  Kids 10 and under and Military members are always free.   Click here to see what to expect when you head to Evergreen Speedway. 

4.Western Heritage Center - Step back into time at this interactive museum dedicated to sharing the history of our very own Snohomish River Valleys.  People of all ages will enjoy the tractors, old farming machines, and the mining history.  The museum is open every Friday-Sunday and entry is free.  

5. Have Some Creative Time - Both the Northwest Art Center in Duvall and 5 Lines Pottery in Monroe have paint your own pottery times.  If you have more of a messy artist in your life the Northwest Art Center also has the splatter room.  For those with tweens and teen, there are many shops in downtown Monroe that have craft nights that they are welcome to attend with an adult.  

6. Galaxy 12 Monroe- Voted best place for tweens and teens in our 2018 Gold Daisy Awards! 

7. Your Local Library - Our local libraries have several programs and events for elementary aged, tweens and teens!  Check the Cherry Valley Macaroni Kid event calendar for more information on these programs and events. 

8. Take a hike - There are so many great hikes in the area!  Get them out from behind those screens and check out the nature surrounding us.  

9. Geocaching - Go on an adventure to find treasure!  Be sure to bring your own treasure along to replace the treasures that you find.  

10. Park Time - There are several parks in our area that also cater to the older kids.  We have skateparks, tennis courts, basketball courts, and more.
