This fall Carnation Farms is rolling out a new education program, a special weekly class just for preschoolers. The “Seedlings” program is for kids ages three to five, a great way to introduce young children to local food and farming.
“Seedlings” offers young children and their adult guests an hour exploring different farm-based themes. Little ones will see farm animals and plants up close to learn where their food comes from. Each interactive class is tailored to a particular theme such as turkeys, pumpkins, chickens, dry beans, and ducklings. Each week visitors will enjoy a guided tour of the farm, a theme-based craft, storytime, and a snack from foods grown on our farm.
Seedlings classes are held mid-morning and are scheduled weekly from October through mid-December. A few of the classes will be offered as drop-off, otherwise parents/caregivers are required to be with their little one. Visit carnationfarms.org/events-calendar for more information and to register.
During the drop-off session, parents will get to enjoy a little time to themselves. Parents and caregivers can head to Carnation Farms’ farm stand for a cup of coffee and a snack, and enjoy hanging out in our large outdoor shelter (heaters included) with a book or a friend.
