Friday Funday at Let's Play Cafe

By Melinda Larke - Cherry Valley Macaroni Kid February 18, 2021

This week's Friday Funday took us to  Let's Play Cafe in Monroe.   Let's Play Cafe is a family-friendly arcade where you can play a variety of vintage arcade games or play in-person games like Magic or D&D. In the past we have taken the kids there just to play with their free board games or for some fun in the arcade.  We even spent a few birthday parties there.

They just recently reopened and we took the opportunity to get out of the house and have a Friday Funday!  Right now you can play two different ways.  You can reserve a private playtime for you and 5 other people. This gives you free play on all the arcade games for one hour.  The cost is $100.00.  Or, you can attend a public drop-in playtime anytime when they are open.  The cost is $20 for a session, and sessions last all day (4pm to 9pm),  they will call a break in play every two hours for us to go through and clean everything.  You are required to wear masks while you are there and they ask you to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before you go into the arcade area.   For more information on how you can play click here

I chose to do the private hour and we had so much fun.  As we walked in we were welcomed and asked to sanitize our hands.  Then we proceeded back to the arcade games and began playing.  I spent most of my time on the pinball machines, my reflexes just aren't what they used to be, and the kids tried out every game there.  They especially loved the games in which they could compete with each other.  I really enjoyed not having to worry about tokens; buying them,  dividing them among the kids, telling the kids to ration them, and not having kids come to me and tell me they needed more tokens.  All the games were on free play and we just needed to press the start button to get it going.

I have always considered Let's Play Cafe a hidden gem.  Now is no different.   It is a great place to take the kids and entertain them for an hour or so.  I was afraid that the kids would think an hour wasn't enough time, but they agreed that it was a good amount of time and that they had a lot of fun.  We felt safe the entire time and will definitely be back again.

We will be going to a new destination for this week's Friday Funday.  Be sure to follow us on Instagram to see where we will be!

Keep finding your family fun -
