Is your family interested in a 9-month, nature-based preschool program for your child? Will your child be at least 3 ½ and fully potty-trained by the beginning of the school year? If yes, then Nature Vision Preschool at Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park may be the perfect fit for you! The mission of Nature Vision Preschool is to provide a nature and play-based experiential learning environment to help foster a sustainable culture in our community. Located in the unique setting of an educational farm and forested park, our preschool program supports the learning and development of our students mentally, emotionally, physically, and socially. Our teaching is grounded in the philosophies of play-based learning with an emergent curriculum. Through time spent outdoors in nature as well as through free play and group time in our preschool cottage, we work to provide all children with the opportunity to learn about what interests them in ways that are effective and meaningful. We follow the natural cycles of change in our forests, streams, and meadows as we weave in academic themes of math, language, science, art, music and movement, and environmental education. Our students become active participants in their own learning as they gain independence, self-esteem, and become fully prepared for any program they move on to after Nature Vision Preschool.
2021-2022 Nature Vision Preschool Classes
Creative Play Tuesdays/Thursdays, 8:30-11:00 am* Sept. 2, 2021 - May 26, 2022 Location: Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park Max Class Size: 12 Age Range: 3.5-4 y/o Tuition: $415/month Potty-training required.
Creative Play is perfect for a gentle introduction to preschool. With an emphasis on a small class size and play-based curriculum, Creative Play students are ready for fun, rain or shine! By exploring their interests and the world around them, children develop long-lasting connections to the earth and to each other. Through active play and discovery, students learn about the forest we call home and begin to make sense of the patterns of nature. When we foster these curiosities, students grow their connections to the world around them. Who is making that bird song? Who calls this tree home? Creative Play students are going to find out! Teachers weave academic concepts throughout daily activities, encouraging authentic and contextual learning in a nurturing and engaging environment. At the end of this growth-filled year, students will move into Pre-K Discoveries or Preschool Explorers with a matured sense of connection and place in our preschool community.
Pre-K Discoveries Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, 8:30-11:30 am* Sept. 1, 2021 - May 27, 2022 Location: Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park Max Class Size: 14 Age Range: 4-5 y/o Tuition: $590/month Potty-training required.
Pre-K Discoveries students are budding and blooming as scientists, artists, mathematicians, and story-tellers. With a play-based curriculum that follows the seasonal changes, students will enjoy exploring and discovering all that our forest has to offer while developing their kindergarten readiness skills! By building on existing abilities and knowledge, students are challenged to explore topics with more depth and self-direction through our emergent curriculum. As teachers gradually and gently encourage children to take bigger steps towards self-reliance and building their own curiosity, each child will develop their potential and thrive in our preschool community! With a focus on social and emotional development, your child will build confidence, curiosity, and develop the skills needed for a happy and rewarding school year. Students will show teachers and each other all of the amazing things the forest has to offer underfoot and all around them. By the end of the school year, your student will be fully prepared to enter kindergarten.
Preschool Explorers Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, 12:30-3:30 pm* Sept. 2, 2021 - May 26, 2022 Location: Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park Max Class Size: 14 Age Range: 3.5-5 y/o Tuition: $590/month Potty-training required.
Children have a lot to teach us, and each other! Preschool Explorers embodies this through the unique and exciting community of a mixed-age class. Students will learn and grow with each other while we explore and adventure around the magical forest we call home! Who made the hole that owl is living in? Why is that fern growing on the tree? How do nurse logs help the forest? Through a play-based curriculum, teachers make natural connections to academic themes and provide a rich environment where students continue to grow their social-emotional and academic skills. Our students become active participants in their own learning as they gain independence and self-esteem by teaching and learning from their fellow students. At the end of the school year, older students are fully prepared to move into kindergarten, while younger students may return for one more year of Nature Vision Preschool. Preschool Explorers is strongly recommended for students with previous preschool/daycare experience.

(Voted Best Preschool in the 2020 Gold Daisy Awards) Monroe Christian School partner with Christian homes and churches to nurture and equip God’s children. We recognize that Jesus Christ is sovereign over all creation and has created each child with unique abilities, gifts and talents. Our purpose is to develop and encourage growth in every area of their lives; spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically, according to God’s Word and relying on the Holy Spirit. Through this process, children will develop a Christian perspective of life that will help them critically weigh the issues of the day and lead them into faithful stewardship of God’s world and into a life of joyful service. At MCS students are fully engaged in the learning process. Learning includes hands-on classroom activities, on-site learning opportunities, field trips and technology. Students are representatives of our school, and of God, as we enhance their education with opportunities to learn in God’s world. We strive to equip students for service, both in our school and in our community. Every year, each class finds a way to have a meaningful impact in our community. Service projects have included a school-wide recycling program, food and clothing drives for our local food bank and shelters, visiting seniors, collecting quarters to feed hungry children in India, and many others. Our prayer is that every student becomes “service-oriented,” developing a desire to serve God by serving others. MCS believes that as students become engaged and equipped, they will be empowered to transform the world for Jesus Christ. In addition to being academically prepared, students graduating from MCS have developed a Christian perspective of life. This Christian perspective helps them critically weigh the issues of the day and lead them into faithful stewardship of God’s world and into a life of joyful service.

In the midst of a pandemic, many things can change. We saw a need for a new way to educate our children while keeping them social, as well as safe. Homeschooling is a scary word for many families who never envisioned themselves in that position. At Kardia Classical School, our goal is to partner with parents to help them classically educate their kindergarten through eighth-grade children. This is a great opportunity for parents and teachers to work together through this difficult time for the betterment of their children’s education. Our goal is to partner with parents to make the transition to homeschooling an easier one. With support from our certified teachers, you will receive weekly lesson plans, video lessons for more difficult subjects, in-person classes once a week, bi-monthly parent check-ins, twice-yearly assessment opportunities for reporting to the state, and more! We would love the opportunity to partner with you on your new endeavor to classically educate your child. We also have many new ideas and goals as we grow and look forward to next year. You won't want to miss out on all that we have to offer!
The Attic offers a unique educational experience for children ages 3-18, one which supports a sense of self, a passion for learning, community, and childhood through our K-12 program and the Field & Forest Outdoor Preschool. We offer a low child:teacher ratio in a multi-age environment, and our teachers are passionate and committed to each and every child. We understand the importance of freedom within structure, and of developmentally-appropriate education. The Attic does not use grades, rewards, or punishments in order to support the development of intrinsic motivation, a key Attic value. We believe that education is not just about academics, but about the development of the learner as a whole person. For this reason, social-emotional development is a core focus of our program. All Attic learners are registered homeschoolers in Washington State. This designation frees Attic kids from state required and mandated in-seat hours, and frees Attic teachers to fully support our core curriculum in a September-May, three-day-a-week schedule. Our classes are small, and our teaching is constructivist, often project-based, often collaborative, and always attentive to each child's developmental needs.
